The Indonesia government has committed to improving the quality of its religious education system and wants to achieve this by digitising its underlying support platform. The digital platform is envisioned to be a dashboard that would enable policy-makers, administrators and educators to fully harness technology and data analytics to develop their future work plans and budget.
Apart from digitizing the support systems, the Indonesia government is also looking at the possibility of setting up an online university for Islamic studies. The move was touted internally as being in line with the country’s plan to digitize their religious education but the proposal is still in the very early stages of discussions.
It would be the first initiative of its type in Indonesia if they decided to go ahead with this idea. The current challenge is to find suitable technology partners and financiers to pull out this project.
