Back in January, Thailand declared that they would adopt the Bio-Circular-Green Economy model (BCG model) as part of their national strategy to reduce dependency on foreign investments and build capabilities in the field of biomaterial, cultural diversity, food, biodiversity, agriculture, creative economy, medical, tourism, biochemical, wellness and bioenergy.
To kick off the BCG model, Thailand has partnered Japan as part of their strategy to develop promote and develop capabilities in recycling vehicle parts from vehicles that are nearing its end of life.
At the moment, they’ve identified some vehicles to kick-start the project and will be working closely with their Japanese counterparts so that the Thais could shadow and learn the technical knowledge of vehicle parts recycling i.e. to break down the vehicles into its basic components and then further process it into basic elements like precious metals, plastics, rubber and steel for industrial use.
Thailand had quickly put up a prototype plant that should have the capacity to process about 20 to 30 tonnes of vehicle parts per day. Experimentation and studies are still on-going at the moment.
