In a recent meeting between Japan and Vietnam, Japan expressed keen interest in extending assistance to Vietnam in the area of urban development. Japanese technical experts will advise the country in the area of urban flooding, water drainage management, technical infrastructure systems and wastewater treatment and this would be supported by Japanese technology.
The Japanese – Vietnamese cooperation would focus on areas such as the development of human resources, planning and implementation of water drainage and wastewater treatment systems and also the legal system to support the entire water drainage and wastewater treatment industry.
Both countries have decided to further coordinate on this partnership until early 2022. The entire process would focus on developing real projects on identified cities, establishing a standards guideline for underground works and also creating an appropriate legal system to regulate drainage and sewerage works. Apart from this, Japan would also assist Vietnam in the policy research to attract investments to their water drainage industry.
