Representatives from Russia and Thailand met during the Russia-Thailand Technology Day, to exchange notes on the developments of their respective digital economies and discussed about how they could come together to work on potential business areas.
Thailand shared that they were looking into turbo-charging some areas of their economy like developing the venture capital space for digital economy investment, positioning the country as a sandbox for innovators and startups, creating smart cities and smart visas. Apart from these, Thailand also shared about their ideas of attracting startup bloggers to Thailand to make use of their ecosystem and brought up the potential opportunities in their aquaculture and agriculture sectors.
Russia shared about their strengths in the digital economy, which stemmed from their strong technical education and also the sheer number of private sector I.T. companies. They also shared about their world-class achievements in the areas of artificial intelligence (manufacturing), the efficiency of their state-owned enterprises, number of CCTVs deployed within the country, smart cities initiatives, e-government solutions, number of car-sharing users, robotics, machine learning technology, drone technology and cyber security.
Russia offered assistance in the form of access to Russian technology, capability development, collaboration with go-to-market strategies and implementation, provision of long-term education in technical areas amongst others. They cited potential collaborations in areas like improving post office operations, facial recognition systems, telecommunications, geospatial information technology and deployment of artificial intelligence to traffic management. Recent successful implementation included places in Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Serbia and Vietnam.
